The application of a conveyor belt supposes correct sizing of the belt, its volumetric
load and the structural supports for installation.
Belt size is based on volumetric data of the transported materials, the characteristics
of the materials, the length and elevation of the transport.
Roller types, pulleys diameters, radii of vertical curves, curvature of the drums,
transition distance etc., are characteristics which are identified on the basis of
the elasticity of the inserts and flexibility of the carcass as function of the width
and number of plies.
For EP fabric belts we recommend step joints with inclined cut at one third of the
belt's width. With properly sized steps, this system allows forjoints with excellent
safety margins and will movement over the splice equal to the slide movement between
original plies.
The hot-vulcanized joint of the conveyor belts is carried out by means of gradinatura
of the cloths according to the traditional system.
Duration and preservation of the materials:
JOINTS
Step length is sized according to the type and number of plieces composing carcass at
least 150 and most 300 mm.
L= 1 /3b + step length (No. of cloths - 1 ) + 50 mm
MATERIALS FOR JOINTS AND BELT REPAIR
The material is to be kept in a dry, ventilated place, protected against light and
at a room temperature from 5° to + 25°C. By adopting these precautionary measures a
validity of approximately 6 months will be obtained.
